Kaushal Samachar is a monthly online newsletter from the house of DDU-GKY Centre for Skills and Jobs, NIRDPR, Hyderabad to keep you updated on the key activities of the centre. The newsletter was released by Shri Narendra Tomar, Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in January 2018.

Due to a few technical issues, its circulation was paused for a few months. We are happy to resume it from this month.

A tete-a-tete with MoRD


Smt Alka Upadhayay IAS, Addl Secretary MoRD and Shri Charanjit Singh, Joint Secretary (Skills) MoRD, visited NIRDPR on 09 November 2019 and interacted with the DDU-GKY staff. The Addl Secretary and the Joint Secretary highlighted the areas that require special focus to further improve the DDU-GKY programme and how the team can contribute to achieve that. The meeting proved to be a great motivation for the DDU-GKY team at NIRDPR.

 

Kaushal Samachar: The month of November saw DDU-GKY, NIRDPR expanding itself to new horizons. Highlights include the team's interaction with the Additional Secretary, MoRD and Joint Secretary (Skills) MoRD at NIRDPR and the visit of the Executive Director, DDU-GKY, NIRDPR Shri. K V Satyanarayana to the CXO Meet Meghalaya, 2019. Another highlight was the visit of four officials from Bangladesh Rural Development Academy, who understood the working of DDU-GKY and visited a PIA centre for detailed understanding. Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Promotion Society launched a helpline for numerous programmes including DDUGKY. We are also promoting the usage of Kaushal Bharat ERP System and encouraging positive action from PIAs via Kaushal Pravesh training programmes.


CXO Meet Meghalaya, 2019

Shri K.V. Satyanarayana, Executive Director of DDU-GKY, NIRDPR, addressing the audience of the CXO meet in Meghalaya stated that when it comes to DDU-GKY, the approach of the Training Partners in programme implementation is crucial. The Executive Director emphasised that there are a few key points to bear in mind to ensure quality and sustainability of the programme. i) Prospective PIAs should understand the programme before submitting the application and utilise the hand holding support being offered by NIRDPR in the form of Kaushal Salaah and Kaushal Pravesh. ii) Conduct market survey to find out the demands of trades which is also crucial for successful implementation of the project by PIAs. iii) PIAs should hire professional counsellors for the purpose of retention of candidates during training and placement, in order to help them sustain the cultural and environmental shock at the work place or a new location. He concluded by urging the PIAs to have quality trainers so that they can give well equipped candidates to the industry.





Kaushal Pravesh: Induction for Newly Empanelled DDU-GKY PIAs

National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) as Central Technical Support Agency (CTSA) has conducted a 3-day induction training “KAUSHAL PRAVESH” for new PIAs at

1. Chandigarh for the newly on boarded Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) recommended by Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) during 7th and 8th Project Approval Committee (PAC) meeting. This program was organized to address the learning needs of PIAs to ensure the successful implementation of DDU-GKY project in the state of Punjab. Designated heads of PIAs were invited to attend the orientation program in two batches. Training sessions for Batch 1 and 2, was held from 5th Nov 2019 – 7th Nov 2019 and 13th Nov 2019 – 15th Nov 2019 respectively. 26 members from 8 new PIAs in Batch - I and 28 members from 9 new PIAs in Batch – II have attended the orientation program. PIAs were briefed on the basic knowledge of DDU-GKY Guidelines, Notifications, timelines and Standard operating procedures along with one day of field orientation and live demonstration at functional and active DDU-GKY Training Centre in order to deliver the practical understanding about the program implementation to PIAs. Best Practices and challenges associated with the Mobilization of beneficiaries and placements within organized sectors were also discussed.


2. Hyderabad for newly on boarded Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) recommended by Tamilnadu SRLM. Training sessions for Batch 1 and 2, held from 4th Nov 2019 – 6th Nov 2019 and 7th Nov 2019 – 9th Nov 2019 respectively.

Training Centre Inspection using Kaushal Bharat (ERP portal) by MoRD, ASRLM and CTSA in Assam

A team from Ministry of Rural Development, National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission has tested the Inspection module though Kaushal Bharat by conducting Inspection of Training Centre of M/s Empower Pragati on 15th November 2019. MoRD representative has tested and appreciated the process flow of Desk and Onsite inspection module.

 

Helpline Services by Karnataka State Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society

Sanjeeveni-KSRLPS has started a call centre service to provide information to the general public on various components of NRLM being implemented by KSRLPS mentioned below:


  1. SHG group formation in the rural areas
  2. Information on livelihood activities
  3. Grant in aid or subsidy available under different schemes
  4. DDU-GKY (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana)
  5. RGCY (Rajiv Gandhi Chaitanya Yojana)
  6. Training activities by RSETI and RUDSETI
  7. Loan facilities available at various banks for entrepreneurship development

SGSY Special Projects

Under SGSY(SP) M/s.Manthan Gramin Evam Samaj Sewa Samiti, Bhopal has trained 24345 and placed 18489 candidates in the States of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bundelkhand region. Ministry has sanctioned an amount of Rs.554.03 Lakhs towards final instalment to M/s.Manthan Gramin Evam Samaj Sewa Samiti. NIRDPR has released the instalment in November 2019.

Four Officials from Bangladesh Rural Development Academy had visited NIRDPR to know about DDU-GKY Project Implementation procedure. DDU-GKY, NIRDPR team along with Bangladesh officials visited Apollo Training Center, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

Skill DEED

Jharkhand Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), in collaboration with NIRDPR as knowledge partner has conceptualised Skill DEED, an MDP for aspiring skill development professionals in Jharkhand. The objective is to create skilled and job ready manpower to run the Training Centres efficiently and enhance the quality of the DDU-GKY Project implementation.

Core objectives are:
• Develop critical and creative thinking about skill development in India and other countries.
• Build competencies (Knowledge, Skill and Attitude) required for implementing skill development programmes and moulding them into job-ready professionals for the skilling eco-system, particularly in the rural development sector.


Skill DEED MDP candidates under training

Certification: The candidates after completion of the course and qualifying the assessment shall be awarded with certificate and opportunities for placements with PIAs in Jharkhand. Skill DEED was launched on 8th October 2018 at Ranchi by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Raghubar Das in the presence of NIRD&PR, JSLPS and Training Partners. The course commenced in October 2019 which was inaugurated by Dr. W.R Reddy IAS, Director General, NIRDPR.


The programme is owned and implemented by Skill DEED society, a conglomerate of PIAs in Jharkhand.
